Hey! It’s Julian, the founder of Studenthaus. It’s been a while since we’ve sent one of these emails, but a lot has happened and I think you’ll want to hear about it.
This email covers three things:
A new free tool we built for Canadian renters
What we’ve been up to at Studenthaus
What to expect from this newsletter going forwards
Meet Cassia, your personal rental search agent.

If you've ever spent your evenings doom-scrolling listing sites trying to find a decent place to live, we built something for you.
Cassia is your own rental search agent. You tell it what you're looking for and it watches the market for you. Every day, Cassia sends you up to 3 matches tailored to what you actually want.
And it's free. 3 matches a day, for as long as you’re looking for housing. Pause any time. Sign up at trycassia.com
As a thank you for your support, I’m picking 5 winners of $25 Amazon gift cards from the first 100 people who sign up through this email. So if you're even a little bit curious, now's the time.
What we’ve been up to
While the newsletter was quiet, we were running Canada’s largest student housing survey in 16 cities. Odds are, you had someone walk up to you and ask you to fill out a housing survey… it might have been me :)
Here's where things stand:
6,000 student responses from 16+ cities
I personally visited 15 schools and spoke to thousands of students
We gave away $2,400 in $100 grants to students who completed the survey, passing $10,000 given to students in the last 3 years
We released the State of Canadian Student Living 2026 and got featured by the Daily Hive, Toronto Star, CTV News, RENX, Costar, and CHCH
We're now working with developers, universities, and government who want to understand what the next generation of renters actually needs before they make decisions.
What to expect from Haus Hacks
Infrequent emails (two per month at most) with the following:
Housing news that matters: Policy changes, project approvals, and market shifts affecting students and young renters across Canada.
Polls on projects & policy: I want to know what you think. Should your city approve that new housing project? Do you support a proposed policy? Your voice will shape real decisions.
Reward opportunities: We'll be running giveaways, referral rewards, and chances to earn something by participating in future research. Every email will have some opportunity to earn rewards. That’s my promise.
The goal is simple: build a community of people who care about Canada’s future and actually give you ways to influence it.
